NEW YORK — Perez Hilton’s family has provided fans an update after the popular gossip blogger appeared to self-harm during a disturbing TikTok livestream earlier this week.

In a statement shared on his website, Hilton’s loved ones revealed that he is still able to “communicate” while he receives treatment, which has given them “hope” amid his hospitalization.

“Our family wants to once again thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind messages, and support for Perez,” they said.

“Your compassionate humanity during this heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express,” the statement continued. “This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful.”

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday said it received a series of phone calls about Hilton, who had been “live-streaming acts of self harm on social media.” While it was eventually scrubbed from TikTok, the 15-minute stream saw Hilton holding a knife while naked and bloody with visible cuts on his body.

When deputies arrived on the scene around 7 p.m., they assessed the situation, and Hilton was “safely recovered and transported” to a local hospital.

“We respectfully ask for your continued prayers, understanding, and grace as Perez continues to recover,” his family said.

“We will share additional updates as we receive confirmed information and are able to do so,” the continued. “For now, we’re taking things one step at a time and keeping our focus where it belongs, on Perez and his recovery.”

While few other details have been provided, sources told TMZ that Hilton was struggling with his recent move from Las Vegas back to his native Miami. He relocated because he believed it would be better for his mother, but it apparently took a toll on Hilton, who has also faced a series of health struggles this year.

In March, 48-year-old Hilton shared photos of himself in a hospital bed, captioning it, “March madness indeed! Have I got a story to tell.” He later said that he spent 21 days at the facility to receive treatment for a severe case of sepsis.

In April, he revealed he was hospitalized again for “a deep vein thrombosis on my right leg,” which required surgery.
