BOSTON — Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has a new playmaker.
The Patriots have agreed to terms with free-agent wide receiver Romeo Doubs, a source confirmed to the Boston Herald.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported Doubs agreed to a four-year deal worth $68 million. Based on other reports, the deal is worth up to $80 million.
The Patriots opened up their need for a wide receiver when they elected to release the team’s No. 1 receiver in 2025, Stefon Diggs, last week. The top wide receiver option, Alec Pierce, was re-signed by the Colts to a four-year, $116 million contract on Monday. Free-agent wideouts Wan’Dale Robinson (Titans, four years, $70 million), Mike Evans (49ers, three years, $60.4 million) and Rashid Shaheed (Seahawks, three years, $51 million) also signed on Monday.
Doubs, 25, caught 55 passes for a career-high 724 yards with six touchdowns in 2025. He also added eight catches for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Packers’ postseason loss to the Bears.
In four seasons with the Packers, he made 202 receptions on 320 targets for 2,424 yards with 21 touchdowns in 59 games with 50 starts. Of his 21 touchdowns, 17 have come inside the red zone, and 12 have come inside the opponent’s 1-to-10 yard line.
Doubs’ next-best season came in 2023, when he caught 59 passes for 674 yards with eight touchdowns.
The 6-foot-2, 204-pound receiver entered the NFL with the Packers in 2022 as a fourth-round pick out of Nevada.
Doubs joins Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism, John Jiles and Jeremiah Webb on the Patriots’ depth chart.
The Patriots have explored trade talks with the Eagles for wide receiver A.J. Brown. They also could still add another wide receiver or two early in the draft.
