DCCC targets Republican-held seats with digital ad to mark 100 days till midterms

WASHINGTON — The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is marking 100 days until the midterm elections with a new digital ad shared first with CQ Roll Call.
The ad will run on Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram beginning Sunday in 25 Republican-held House districts that Democrats are targeting this fall. The spot focuses on rising grocery bills and gas prices and urges viewers to “remember in November.”
“From groceries to gas to health care, House Republicans have bled Americans’ wallets dry with their cost-raising agenda,” DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre said in a statement. “Voters are exhausted by all the bad news vulnerable House Republicans have created, and the DCCC is working to make sure voters know they can hold Republicans accountable on Election Day.”
House Republicans, who are defending a razor-thing majority, face strong headwinds less than four months before the midterms amid low job approval ratings for President Donald Trump and concerns about the cost of living and the Iran war. An Emerson College poll released Thursday found Democrats with an 11-point lead over Republicans on the generic congressional ballot, which asks voters which party’s candidate they plan to support for Congress.
A focus on affordability proved a reliable message for Democrats in several key races last year, and the party is expected to hammer Republicans on high prices in the lead-up to this year’s midterms.
The new DCCC ad will run in the following districts:
—Arizona’s 2nd and 6th
—California’s 6th, 22nd and 48th
—Colorado’s 5th and 8th
—Florida’s 7th
—Iowa’s 1st and 3rd
—Michigan’s 4th
—North Carolina’s 11th
—Nebraska’s 2nd
—New Jersey’s 7th
—New York’s 17th
—Pennsylvania’s 1st, 7th, 8th and 10th
—Tennessee’s 5th
—Texas’ 15th and 35th
—Virginia’s 1st and 2nd
—Wisconsin’s 3rd
