NEW YORK — It will be a Friday night under the lights for Venus and Serena Williams.

The superstars sisters received the headliner treatment, as their US Open first-round doubles match has been scheduled for the night session at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Williamses are set to face Chan Hao-ching and Maya Joint, who are the 14th-seeded doubles team.

This is the first time since 2022 that Venus, 46, and Serena, 44, are competing together at the US Open.

They have won two doubles championships at Flushing Meadows (1999 and 2009) and are 27-7 in doubles matches there overall.

Serena stepped away from professional tennis after competing at the US Open four years ago, only to make an unexpected return to the sport this summer.

She has not played in a singles tournament since Wimbledon — where she lost to Joint, a 20-year-old Australian, in three sets and suffered a knee injury.

But Serena has continued to play doubles, including a first-round exit alongside her sister at the Cincinnati Open last month, and splitting two matches while teamed up with Carlos Alcaraz at the Open’s mixed doubles tournament last week.

“I never expected to be back on this court, so it’s just a really cool moment,” Serena, a six-time Open singles champion, said after her first match with Alcaraz at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“I never thought this would happen.”

And now, it’s set to happen again in prime time on Friday night, with Venus and Serena playing as a wild card.

Venus played at Arthur Ashe Stadium earlier this week, losing her first-round singles bout against Sofia Kenin in straight sets in a match that started after midnight on Monday.

Afterward, Venus was asked if she has considered her future beyond Friday night’s team-up with her sister.

“I don’t think I should have to,” Venus said. “I mean, my mind is fully focused on that. So I’m going to recover from this completely insane evening and get ready for the next one.”

Venus competed with Leylah Fernandez in the doubles tournament at last year’s Open, advancing to the quarterfinals.
