SAN FRANCISCO — Despite losing a four-run lead, the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-6 in 10 innings on Friday evening at Oracle Park as Rafael Devers delivered a walk-off ground-rule double to snap San Francisco’s five-game losing streak.

While Devers delivered a walk-off ground-rule double with the bases loaded, Luis Arraez, the runner on second base, never touched home plate, robbing Devers of an RBI.

Devers and Casey Schmitt each hit their 21st home runs of the season, while Logan Webb allowed four runs over six innings.

One player whose contributions shouldn’t be lost in the shuffle on Friday night was outfielder Grant McCray, who entered as a pinch-runner in the bottom of the seventh. McCray affected the game on the bases by stealing second and on a sacrifice fly, then showed off his arm in the top of the 10th by throwing out a runner at third to end the inning.

The Angels scored the game’s first run in the top of the first on Nolan Schanuel’s RBI single, but the Giants responded by taking the lead in the bottom half of the inning on Devers’ two-run homer off Grayson Rodriguez down the left-field line.

When Devers stepped to the plate in the third with a runner on base, Angels manager Kurt Suzuki elected to take the bat out of Devers’ hand and intentionally walk him when the count got to 2-0. The decision immediately backfired.

With runners on first and second, Schmitt launched a 412-foot, 105.9-mph three-run home run and extended the lead to 5-1. With Webb on the mound, the Giants positioned themselves to cruise to an easy victory. Easy victories with this team, though, are few and far between.

The Angels responded with three runs in the fifth off Webb on Tyler Heineman’s two-run triple and Mike Trout’s sacrifice fly, trimming the Giants’ lead to 5-4.

San Francisco used some speed to tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh and extend its lead to 6-4. After Drew Gilbert drew a walk, McCray entered as a pinch-runner and stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Daniel Susac.

That two-run cushion evaporated in the top of the eighth inning when Vaughn Grissom hit a two-run home run off reliever Jason Foley, notching things up at six apiece.
