Taylor Swift and her best friend still have a "weird and silly" high school habit that their husbands "have to put up with".

The 36-year-old singer - who married Travis Kelce in July - met Abigail Anderson when she moved to Nashville when she was 14 years old, and they quickly bonded over the 2004 comedy Napoleon Dynamite, which featured Jon Heder in the title role.

During a Q A with director Andrew Stanton following a screening of Toy Story 5 in New York City on Sunday (01.11.26), Taylor noted the similarities between her and Abigail's friendship and that between Bonnie and Blaze in the movie.

She said: "I'd love to pile on to what Andrew was saying about finding someone who's the same genre as weird and silly as you are and just why Bonnie and Blaze's story resonated with me so much.

"When I moved to Nashville when I was 14, you know, you're the new kid in school and you're like, 'Who should I be friends with? These girls are cool, these girls are cool, these are nice girls.'

"But there was one girl named Abigail - and she even has curly hair, too, like Blaze - and the two of us, all we wanted to do was talk in Napoleon Dynamite voices.

"And we still do this - and it's something our husbands have to put up with."

Taylor then began to mimic Napoleon Dynamite's distinctive voice before explaining why she connected with Toy Story 5 so much.

She added: "And so it's like, you know, when you find that person who just completely sees you for the strange, little genre that is you at your purest, that hit me so hard watching the film."

The Patient Zero hitmaker wrote and recorded I Knew It, I Knew You for Toy Story 5 and previously grew emotional when discussing the track.

Speaking on Good Morning America, she said: "I felt wonderful knowing that I had Randy [Newman's] blessing to write for this film given that I'm the first songwriter to get to partake in the Toy Story world outside of Randy.

"I was absolutely dazzled by it. It is my favourite Toy Story movie."

She then appeared to wipe away a tear as she quipped: "Don't mind me. Just really liked the movie."
