Ben and Casey Affleck's father died this year.

The brothers' mom Chris Anne Affleck was previously revealed to have passed away in June at the age of 83, and now Casey, 51, has revealed he dedicated his new movie Company to both his mother and his dad Timothy because they never got to see his finished film.

Speaking at a press conference for the movie - in which his sons Indiana and Atticus have roles - at the Venice International Film Festival on Tuesday (08.09.26), Casey said: "It's dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.

"I really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn't get to. I think they would have liked it."

Casey and Ben were both encouraged to act by their parents - who divorced over 40 years ago - with their father working as a stage manager, meaning they both grew up around the theatre.

As Chris thought acting would be a good way to keep her boys busy and out of trouble, she and her casting friend Patty Collins encouraged Ben and Casey to audition for commercials, TV shows and local productions - with one of Ben's first roles coming in a Burger King advert.

It was previously revealed Chris passed away at Ben's home.

Her death certificate revealed she died on June 2 at 10.52am while "visiting son's residence", the document revealed, with Us Weekly confirming that the address in question was connected to Ben.

The document stated that Chris died from cardiopulmonary arrest, with contributing factors including pancreatic adenocarcinoma, which she had been suffering from for months, according to the paperwork.

An obituary announcing Chris' death said that she had been told last December that she had just months to live, but was determined to see her grandson's graduation from high school.

She attended the ceremony on May 31, and died in her sleep days later.

Chris is survived by Ben and his brother Casey, as well as her grandchildren - Casey's kids Indiana and Atticus, and Ben's children Fin, Violet and Samuel.

Her obituary revealed details of her life and education, including that she graduated from Harvard University, before going on to teach at public school until she retired in 2008.

She also "taught literacy classes in Mississippi during Freedom Summer, marched against the Vietnam War, and revelled in 1960s counterculture", according to the obit.

These values extended to the classroom, as "very student, whether just arrived from Haiti or Cambridge upper crust, was a cherished citizen of her classroom republic, equal to each other and to herself".
