SAN DIEGO — New San Diego Padres principal owner Kwanza Jones brings more than just financial investment and a commitment to be “all in” with the team. She brings with her a history as a recording artist, with a range of singles, music videos, remixes and even a full album.
And that includes her recent releases “¡Vamos!” and “We All In,” which directly reference the Padres. “We All In” was played as part of the news conference to announce her and José E. Feliciano in San Diego on Tuesday, and it has also been used as audio on the Padres’ Instagram account.
Fans should expect to hear the songs more going forward.
“Yes, we intend to continue using the songs in future social media posts, and we plan to play both songs in the ballpark in the future,” Craig Hughner, senior vice president for Padres communications, said in an email. “They will be used in music videos that will be in rotation with our other hype videos at Petco Park.”
“We All In,” which was published on Spotify last Friday, is a 1-minute, 52-second song with lyrics such as “You know we all in” and “We’re gonna win / Win it all.” An unnamed rapper and background singer add, “For the faithful and not for the rest,” as well as, “Down for the brown and the gold.”
“¡Vamos!,” which is performed in Spanish, kicks off with Jones shouting “La madre de los Padres,” a catchphrase she was seen saying in the Padres’ dugout earlier this week. The 1-minute, 52-second song was published to streaming platforms Sunday.
Both songs are available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and iTunes. Those streaming platforms also host Jones’ songs going back to 2014’s “Vicious (Remixes)” and the albums “Queen Moves Only (The Remixes)” from 2023 and “SUPERCHARGED (Deluxe Edition)” from 2013.
Jones’ YouTube channel features 97 videos, including some dance-heavy productions and social justice-oriented music videos. Her channel also features videos documenting her business and philanthropic efforts.
Jones appeared Tuesday on the expediTIiously podcast with rapper Tip “T.I.” Harris, where he introduced her as a part of the Padres ownership group, an investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
Other recent connections to music and the arts include her support for and history with the Apollo Theater in New York City, including the ongoing Culture in Motion national roadshow, which brings arts and cultural opportunities to communities across the country.
