NEW YORK — Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage will star in “Naughty,” director Olivia Wilde’s holiday-comedy follow-up of sorts to her critically acclaimed “The Invite.”

The soon-to-be “The Morning Show” alum will resurrect her comedy chops as Mallory, a mother who needs Santa Claus (Dinklage) to testify in court so she can wrest custody of her son back from her gaslighting scoundrel of an ex-partner, according to the official synopsis.

Aniston and Dinklage topped Wilde’s co-star wish list from the get-go, according to Deadline, which first reported the news. Besides “Friends,” Aniston’s comedy credits span numerous movies, including “Bruce Almighty,” “Along Came Polly,” “The Break-Up” and “We’re the Millers,” to name just a few. Dinklage, known for his quadruple-Emmy-winning portrayal of Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones,” initially made his mark in the comedy-drama “The Station Agent” in 2003.

It’s not their first brush with holiday high jinks, as The Hollywood Reporter noted. Aniston played a bah-humbug CEO in 2016’s “Office Christmas Party,” part of an ensemble cast including Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn and Kate McKinnon. Dinklage had a memorable turn as children’s book author Miles Finch in the 2003 Will Ferrell comedy “Elf.” Wilde herself had a part in “Love the Coopers,” a 2015 Christmas comedy in which she played the daughter of Diane Keaton’s character.

Wilde dedicated “The Invite” to Keaton, a close friend and mentor. The comedy about marital strife and possible rejuvenation received a standing ovation and sparked an all-night bidding war at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, according to The Wrap.

Wilde has also directed two other feature films, “Booksmart” in 2019 and “Don’t Worry Darling” in 2022. Adding to her scads of acting credits, she stars in the comedy “I Want Your Sex,” which opens in theaters Friday.

“Naughty,” described at its inception as “ ‘Bridesmaids’ in the North Pole” according to Variety, is being produced by Margo Robbie’s LuckyChap and was penned by “Cocaine Bear” screenwriter Jimmy Warden. He and Wilde are also co-producers.

The movie is scheduled for release Nov. 5, 2027.
