Whitney Port has abandoned plans to use a surrogate and will be a "vessel" for another baby herself.

The 41-year-old reality star has been frank about her struggles to have a second child with husband Tim Rosenman - with whom she already has eight-year-old son Sonny - and while they originally planned to have another woman carry their baby after Whitney suffered a string of miscarriages, they are now going in a "different direction".

Whitney shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her at a fertility clinic in New York City and wrote: "After all the red tape, the money, the emotions, and just how long everything has taken, we've decided to go in a different direction.

"I'm scared to be the vessel, but I'm even more scared of letting fear stop me from trying for something I want so deeply."

She also shared an Instagram Story featuring Tim sitting in the clinic with an ultrasound photo on a screen above his head.

Whitney wrote: "Uterus looks good! Let's f****** go!"

The update came a week after the Hills star told how she and Tim had been looking for a new surrogate but had found the process "difficult" so was debating exploring the possibility of carrying the baby herself.

She said on her With Whit podcast: "We needed to find a new surrogate and we started talking to a new surrogacy concierge. The whole thing has just gotten so difficult that I finally decided that I want to check out how I look physically and see if carrying is something that I can actually do on my own.

"If I look OK to carry and the doctors think it's safe, we're going to give it a try."

But Whitney - who confirmed she still has two viable embryos - admitted she didn't really want to be pregnant again.

She added: "Do I particularly want to be pregnant? Not really. I wish I had a more beautiful and inspiring answer … I did not love being pregnant. What I want is to wrap this up, I want a second child."

Back in February, Whitey shared her excitement following a successful embryo transfer with their then-surrogate.

She said in a TikTok video: "Everything went amazingly. They said she looked amazing and the embryo plumped up like it should. I'm so happy that this part is behind us but there is so much left."

A month later, the reality star told how hard the fertility struggles had been for her and her husband.

She told Us Weekly: "I think for me, it's really watching Timmy's heartbreak.

"It's one thing for me to hold my own, and I feel like I know how to cope with that and how to calm myself down.

"But then, to see my partner, who I love so much, [and] I just don't know what to say or don't have the answer for. I look at him as, like, such a rock and someone that I lean on for so much that it breaks my heart to see that."
