Keke Palmer has been surprised by the interest in her burgeoning romance with Sean Evans.

The 32-year-old actress is dating the Hot Ones host, and Keke has admitted to loving life with Sean, describing their chemistry as "genuine".

During an appearance on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle, Keke shared: "Our chemistry is genuine. I couldn't force that if I tried. We always felt that chemistry from the first time we did the show."

Despite this, Keke has been caught off guard by the public's reaction to their romance.

The Hollywood star said: "I was gagged that everybody was ready to marry me off. I was like, 'Guys, let it cook!' They married your girl off in two seconds."

Keke and Sean, 40, were romantically linked for the first time in mid-June. The celebrity duo were spotted having dinner together, and Keke was surprised by the interest in their romance.

The actress said: "That was crazy.

"I mean, for us, it's life. Essentially we met at work and we had chem … it's like work husband/work wife and you just had that chemistry with people. Then we hang out, and for people to then … they write the story before you can live it."

Keke admitted that wherever she goes, she can't escape chatter about her love life.

The One of Them Days star said: "I see somebody at the airport. I'm going through TSA, they're like, 'So girl, what's going on with you?'

"I'm like, 'Girl, you gotta let time pass! This just happened yesterday.' It's this thing that's so parasocial, the world we live in now."

Keke has a three-year-old son called Leo with ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson, and the actress wants her son to know that "happiness is his to take".

Asked what she hopes Leo learns from her, Keke told Extra: "Just to never be afraid to evolve.

"I think we get so caught up in our storylines, and even when they're tough, we have a hard time getting out of them, but you can always shape-shift. You can always become someone new and let your happiness, let your joy and your peace, be that guiding force.

"I want him to know that happiness is his to take, but we got to take it, you know?"
