Charlie Sheen reveals why dad Martin refused to be in Netflix documentary

Charlie Sheen says his father Martin believed his son's Netflix documentary didn't "need" him.
The former Two And A Half Men actor has opened up about the making of the streaming platform's aka Charlie Sheen docuseries, which featured some prominent figures from his life, although his brother Emilio and their father Martin both declined to participate.
Charlie told The Hollywood Reporter: "Dad had such a specific reaction to it.
"He said, 'You don't need me. You don't need the me of today. You've got the really interesting, handsome me.
"'That's how I want to be in the doc.' "
The AGe-year-old star himself wasn't always sold on a documentary about his life, as he admitted he usually shut down the offers pretty quickly.
He explained: "I had been approached a couple times, but it never actually got to an in-person meeting.
"It was just a couple of phone calls, or I'd read a pitch breakdown for how somebody thought they should document my history, and none of that spoke to me at all."
However, he felt something different when he heard from director Andrew Renzi.
He added: "I saw a guy that wasn't interested in a lot of the [tabloid] crap.
"I saw a guy that wasn't there to exploit anything, that was there to celebrate the cool s*** and to be sensitive -- but honest and thorough -- with the not-so-cool s***."
Meanwhile, Charlie recently revealed he wants to reconnect with former Two And A Half Men co-star Jon Cryer.
They worked together on the classic sitcom for eight years before production was halted in 2011 due to Charlie's drug addiction.
He was later fired and placed by Ashton Kutcher, and the pair haven't spoken for years, although Jon was interviewed for the Netflix documentary.
Charlie told PEOPLE magazine: "Every time this comes up, I say I'm going to [reach out to him] and I never do. I don't like to bother people. But I think Jon would be open to that. Jon's a lovely man and a very talented guy."
Jon insisted he doesn't want to be part of Charlie Sheen's "cycle".
Speaking in aka Charlie Sheen, he said: "I worked with Charlie Sheen for eight years. And if you wonder what it's like to work with Charlie Sheen for eight years, when I started, I had hair.
"I had some trepidation about participating in this, partially because part of the cycle of Charlie Sheen's life has been that he messes up terribly, he hits rock bottom, and then he gets things he gets things going again.
"And he brings a lot of positivity in his life, and that's when he burns himself out again. He just can't help but set that house on fire, and I didn't want to be a part of that cycle.
"I'm not here to build him up and I'm not here to tear him down. But I sure hope this doesn't go bad."
