A documentary about "Saturday Night Live's" head honcho tops the DVD releases for the week of June 9.

"Lorne": A behind-the-scenes glimpse of “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels by Academy Award-winning director Morgan Neville, featuring interviews with cast members and exclusive and archival footage.

"Such a powerful force in the nation’s comedic landscape deserves more than we get in this admittedly entertaining movie, which often struggles in its aim to cover more than half a century," writes Chicago Tribune columnist Rick Kogan in his commentary. "There is a hint that the 81-year-old is not ready for retirement, but what might that mean for 'SNL'? Who knows? No one here is talking. Michaels certainly deserves credit for his career, and if he comes off as a meticulous and obsessive person, so be it. He’s the man behind the curtain."

NEW ON DVD JUNE 9

"A Magnificent Life": This French animated film directed by Sylvain Chomet is a biographical drama about the personal and professional struggles of the playwright, novelist and filmmaker Marcel Pagnol, who attempts to balance his legacy with his ambition.

"She Dances": Steve Zahn and his daughter Audrey star in this family dramedy about a divorced father who has to step in to chaperone a trip to a high school dance competition.

"Proud Princess": Family-friendly Czech animated flick about a king who goes undercover as a gardener to try and woo the titular princess.
