Richard Schiff was red-faced after he blurted "I love you" to Amy Adams for no reason.

The 70-year-old actor, who has been married to 64-year-old actress Sheila Kelley since 1996, chatted with his Man of Steel co-star, who got hitched to actor Darren Le Gallo, both 51, in 2015, and Richard fled after he made the awkward blunder.

The Saturday Guardian asked Richard if he had ever said "I love you" and not meant it, to which The Lost World: Jurassic Park star replied: "Yes, to Amy Adams.

"We had run into each other, we'd worked together a couple of times and were friendly, we chatted for a bit, and I said I had to leave, and I blurted it out.

"I still don't know why, except that's probably a clue as to why the world responds to her the way that they do."

Richard revealed that he had a crush on his Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight co-star Diane Keaton - who died of pneumonia on October 11, 2025.

The entertainer said: "I worked with her once but had the good fortune to meet her later; we had a wonderful hour-long conversation about who knows what."

But, ultimately, the love of his life is Sheila - whom he married in 1996.

Richard gushed: "We are more in love now than ever."

The couple worked together on the ABC medical drama The Good Doctor, and their alter egos, Dr Aaron Glassman and Debbie Wexler, respectively, tied the knot during the October 14, 2019, episode, Take My Hand.

Richard and Sheila - who have a 32-year-old son named Gus and a 25-year-old daughter called Ruby - relished working together.

He told E! News at the time: "This year I get to work a lot more with my real-life wife, Shelia Kelley, and I'm loving that.

"She's such a good actress, and she's so alive on camera. I love working with her. She's great. And then we get to have dinner together back at the hotel, so it's awesome."

Richard and Sheila starred in the 1997 comedy-drama film Santa Fe, but they did not share any scenes.
