MINNEAPOLIS — Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are taking their secret sauce to Las Vegas.

After testing a “Nothing But Hits” show at Taste of Minnesota in 2024, the Minneapolis-launched hit producers and songwriters will do a limited concert residency in Las Vegas in April.

That’s right, a concert residency. Since neither Jam nor Lewis considers himself a singer, their featured vocalists will be “American Idol” champ Ruben Studdard and R&B veteran Shanice Wilson, both of whom impressed at the Taste of Minnesota.

With an appearance Wednesday, March 4, on “Good Morning America,” Jam & Lewis announced their gigs on April 17, 18, 22, 24, 25 and 26 at Voltaire at the Venetian Resort. And they promised special guest vocalists who happen to drop by.

“Nothing But Hits” will showcase the Jam & Lewis-created hits of Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Usher, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, George Michael, Sounds of Blackness and others.

Jam & Lewis helmed 16 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and 26 chart-toppers on Billboard’s R&B chart.

After Prince fired them from the band the Time in 1983, the Minneapolis duo kicked off a career as producers and songwriters with the S.O.S. Band’s “Just Be Good to Me.” In 1986, they broke big time by crafting Janet Jackson’s “Control” at their Flyte Tyme Studio in south Minneapolis.

After moving their studios to Edina, Jam & Lewis continued with a run of hits, producing No. 1 songs in the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s. They relocated their operations to Los Angeles in 2003. In 2022, the five-time Grammy winners were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Las Vegas tickets, priced from $100 to $205, are on sale at voltairelv.com.
