Emma Heming Willis is defending her decision to move her husband, actor Bruce Willis, to a separate home amid his advancing frontotemporal dementia.

After facing backlash for placing the “Die Hard” actor into a professional care home, the mother of two says it “was the safest and best decision” for her family and is “not up for a debate.”

“Now I know that Bruce has the best care 100% of the time,” she told Michael Strahan on "Good Morning America." “His needs are met 100% of the time, as well as our two young daughters’. So I’m not gonna take a vote on that.”

The author and caregiver advocate shares details about her husband’s dementia journey in her new book “The Unexpected Journey,” where she reveals all that she’s learned since helping him navigate the neurodegenerative disease.

“I wrote the book that I wish someone had handed me on the day we received the diagnosis,” she told People. “Caregiving is hard, and there are many people doing it with little to no support … The only way I can get through this is to help someone else feel less alone.”

She went on to say moving Willis into a separate home “was the hardest thing,” explaining that the disease “requires a calm and serene atmosphere.”

The 49-year-old first announced his move to the new home during ABC’s News special about the couple, “Emma and Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey.”

Despite having no doubts about the decision, she says critical comments from the public did not come as a surprise.

“I feel like caregivers are so judged, and it just goes to show that people sometimes just have an opinion versus really having the experience,” she told Strahan. “So you have to do what is right for your family and what is going to keep your loved one safe.”
