Lindsay Clancy’s attorney is calling for attacks on his client’s ex-husband to stop.

Defense lawyer Kevin Reddington is disappointed that a jury couldn’t agree on a verdict to find his client not guilty by reason of mental illness following a six-week trial where evidence argued the mother of three was experiencing a mental health crisis when she killed her young children in Massachusetts. Reddington is also unhappy about the way Patrick Clancy is being tried in the court of public opinion.

“It’s obvious that Patrick was a man who stood by his wife through all of the difficulty of the medical issues, the psychiatric issues, the pharmaceutical issues, and even up to the time of the trial and even after the trial,” he told “CBS Mornings” on Wednesday.

Lindsay is accused of strangling her and Patrick’s daughter and two sons in January 2023. She claims to have been suffering through postpartum psychosis at the time of their deaths. Patrick moved to New York City four months later. He remarried in April of this year, prompting social media rumors that he may have been involved in the killings.

Patrick’s lawyer warned conspiracy theorists on Tuesday that they can be held accountable for defaming the victims’ father. Reddington agrees that the gossip should stop.

“I think it’s horrific what this man has been going through and he’s entitled to move on with his life,” Reddington said. “The fact that he’s moved on with his life and still is standing by Lindsay as far as the legal issues tells the tale.”

Patrick, who came home to find his children dead and their mom injured after leaping from a window, testified in his wife’s murder trial that the defendant’s mental state was in decline prior to the killings. He’s been charged with no crimes.

Prosecutors haven’t announced whether they plan to retry the case against Lindsay. Patrick has said he forgives her.
